City and Guilds 6218 - 5 Week Plastering Certificate

This 5 week City and Guilds plastering award 6218 is designed for those of you who work or want to work in the Plastering industry. It will enable you to learn new plastering skills required to enter this lucrative industry.

Plastering Course Content

Silver Trowel will provide you with plastering training that will meet and take you beyond the standards required by City & Guilds. Our goal is not just to provide you with a City and Guilds certificate but to equip you with the best possible plastering skills to help you enter the industry with ease.

To achieve this City & Guilds award will require you to undertake Plastering training and assessment using credits which are achieved by covering various units from the C&G 6218.

Throughout the programme you will be assessed on the following City & Guilds 6218 units:

Unit 005: Mark out, remove damaged plaster, clean and prepare damaged area, mix and apply render, mix and apply plaster to smooth finish.

Unit 006: Check the accuracy of levelling equipment and transfer levels using a spirit level and straight edge.

Unit 117: Prepare surface, apply corner beads, apply background render and finish render coat to blockwork wall and attached piers

Unit 118: Prepare surfaces, apply corner beads, background plaster coat, setting coat and a finish coat to a wall and attached piers.

Unit 207: Fix stop/bell cast beads and render to stop/bell cast beads.

Unit 208: The aim of this unit is to provide you with the skills and knowledge be able to apply plasterboard for dry lining and to apply a finish coat.

On top of these units we will also cover:

  • Health and Safety Requirements, the correct use of materials, equipment and tools.
  • Planning, cutting and fixing gypsum plasterboard.
  • Angle beads. Cutting, fixing, applying jointing tape.
  • Using a plasterer''s hawk and trowel, applying plaster to brick work and plasterboard. How to apply the plaster and produce a good finish.
  • Exterior rendering, materials, levelling, finishing.
  • Applying gypsum-based backing plasters.
  • Two coat skimming with multi finish ready for decorating.
  • Invisible patch repair to a damaged plasterboard wall.
  • Tools and equipment advice and training.
  • Plaster products recommended and explained.
  • Most importantly free tea and coffee from a good old fashion kettle!

Over the 5 week training period, we will teach you numerous plastering skills giving you the confidence to successfully achieve the City & Guilds 6218 Plastering award.

With this plastering course being a fully hands on we recommend that this is reflected in your choice of clothing, Steel toe capped footware is essential.

Course Duration

5 weeks of intensive practical hands on training. All plastering courses start at 9.00am and finish at 4.30pm
